Japan, South Korea stocks seen extending rebound on AI chip gains
Japanese and South Korean equities are expected to build on recent gains as US AI chip strength improves semiconductor sentiment, with KOSPI up about 4% and targeting a fourth consecutive winning session.
Japanese and South Korean stocks look set to continue their rebound, supported by stronger US AI chip performance that is lifting sentiment across semiconductor names. South Korea's KOSPI has risen roughly 4% and is aiming for a fourth straight session of gains.
The AI capital expenditure boom is providing support for Japanese chip suppliers and Korean memory stocks, according to the note. The move reflects broader optimism around AI-related hardware demand.
Separately, market pricing for a Bank of Japan rate hike in September has jumped to about 75%, up from roughly 20% at the start of August. That sharp repricing adds a monetary policy consideration for Japanese assets.
