IRGC Calls Strait of Hormuz a ‘Theater of War’

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard described the Strait of Hormuz as a war zone, vowing to maintain control until adversaries accept all Iranian conditions.

A senior Iranian official labeled the Strait of Hormuz a “theater of war” rather than a mere waterway, according to a social media statement. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) would keep its hold over the strait until all of Iran’s conditions were met by its adversaries.

The strait is a vital chokepoint for global energy shipments, with roughy one-fifth of world oil consumption transiting the narrow passage daily. The remarks come amid already elevated regional tensions and signal a hardline posture from Tehran.

No immediate reaction was available from Western powers or Gulf states, but the statement adds to a series of escalatory rhetoric from Iranian military figures in recent weeks.
