Iran’s President Says Khamenei Accepted Council’s Conclusion After Overwhelming Vote
Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that Supreme Leader Khamenei accepted an expert council’s conclusion, which received 12/13ths of the vote, exceeding the three-quarters threshold he had previously set. He accused some of exploiting the acceptance to foment division.
In a statement, Iranian President Pezeshkian said that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had previously indicated he would accept a specific council’s conclusion if it secured three-quarters of the votes. After the conclusion actually obtained 12/13ths of the vote — well above the threshold — Khamenei accepted it.
Pezeshkian added that certain individuals turned this acceptance of an expert opinion into a pretext for creating division and making unfair, dishonest claims. No further details on the council or its conclusion were provided.
