Iran adviser says Hormuz security plan should bypass US guarantees

A senior Iranian official said Tehran may shift to an offensive posture if its conditions are unmet and called for a Hormuz economic-security mechanism independent of Washington.

Mohammad Mokhber, an assistant to Iran's Supreme Leader and member of the Expediency Council, said the leadership's definitive strategy is to shift the war to an offensive posture if Iran's conditions are not met. He argued such a shift would alter the global balance of power.

Mokhber said the United States has shown it cannot protect its allies in the Persian Gulf. As a result, he described an economic-security arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz, independent of Washington's military guarantees, as the most sustainable path to a new regional order.
