Introducing Crypto on Lightyear

Lightyear has added crypto trading to its platform, offering 12 major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum. The broker charges 0.45% per order with no hidden spread and is MiCA licensed.
European brokerage Lightyear has expanded into cryptocurrency trading, allowing users to buy and sell 12 digital assets directly within its existing investment platform. The move, announced today, comes in response to a user survey in which 75% of respondents requested crypto access, with half of existing crypto holders viewing it as a long-term diversification tool.
The available coins are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Chainlink, Sui, Tao, Uniswap, and Hyperliquid. Trading is available in EUR and USD pairs, and the platform supports 24/7 execution alongside its existing stock and fund offerings.
Pricing and Execution
Lightyear charges a flat 0.45% fee per crypto order with no additional spread. The company states that this is the final cost, unlike many platforms that adjust prices between quoted and executed rates. For order execution, Lightyear has partnered with Kraken, a well-established crypto exchange, to access tight spreads and reliable pricing even during volatile market conditions.
Regulatory Framework
The broker holds a MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) license under the new European Union regulatory framework. From July 2026, all crypto service providers in the EU are required to hold such a license to continue operating. Lightyear emphasizes that its MiCA authorization positions it for long-term compliance.
Availability
The crypto offering is live for users across Europe, but not yet available in the UK or Hungary. Crypto transfers are also not supported at launch. Lightyear positions the feature for both existing crypto investors who want a unified portfolio and newcomers seeking a simpler entry point without complex interfaces or hidden fees.
