Indonesia Q2 GDP grows 5.3% y/y, topping forecast but details mixed
Indonesia’s economy expanded 5.3% year-on-year in the second quarter, surpassing Societe Generale’s 5.1% estimate, though the growth composition raised concerns.
Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose 5.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, according to Societe Generale economist Kunal Kundu. The result came in above the bank's forecast of 5.1%.
However, Kundu cautioned that the composition of the growth is less encouraging, pointing to underlying weaknesses despite the headline beat.
