The $2.25 billion acquisition of NEOS Investments gives Goldman Sachs control of the BTCI bitcoin ETF, which has roughly $1.1 billion in assets under management.
The deal also includes an options-based exchange platform with about $30 billion in turnover.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said the move helps explain why Goldman Sachs did not launch its own covered-call bitcoin product after filing for one several months ago.
