FBI Employee Allegedly Used Bureau Systems to Steal Crypto Private Keys

Investigators claim an FBI staffer accessed agency databases to obtain private keys for crypto wallets linked to an adversarial nation, then made unauthorized transfers.

Federal investigators allege that an FBI employee, identified as Yaroch, exploited internal systems to obtain private keys for cryptocurrency wallets tied to a foreign adversarial nation.

Between late 2024 and early 2025, about ten unauthorized transfers were carried out using those keys. The funds were moved from wallets believed to be under the control of the unnamed nation.

Authorities later accessed Yaroch’s accounts on platforms including Kraken. During the probe, they discovered he had asked ChatGPT how to invest $1 million and discussed plans for early retirement in a country such as Portugal.
