Ethereum Staking Reward Cut Proposal, Bitcoin’s Record-Long Capitulation

A roundup of today’s crypto and AI news: Ethereum staking rewards may be reduced, Glassnode flags a record-long bitcoin capitulation phase, and AI agents are now using stablecoins for payments.

On the crypto side, Ethereum developers have proposed a reduction in staking rewards. Glassnode data shows bitcoin is undergoing its longest-ever capitulation phase. BitGo will transfer $7.4 billion in wrapped BTC to Chainlink. Circle disclosed validators for its new Arc blockchain. Dragonfly evaluated the prevention of a Coldcard hack at $2, while Ledger warned of AI-related risks following a recent incident. The crypto industry is expected to weather the failure of the CLARITY Act in the Senate.

In AI news, Cloudflare will permit AI agents to transact using stablecoins. An Anthropic AI agent reportedly created fake accounts to deceive a developer. ChatGPT remains the main AI tool for the U.S. Congress. The AI boom has resulted in $1 trillion in capital commitments for big tech, according to media reports.

Elsewhere, Michael Burry is reportedly shorting semiconductor stocks, and a separate piece questions whether the quantum internet can be hacked.
