ECB: CEE household loan growth solid in H1 2026

According to data published by the European Central Bank, household loan growth across Central and Eastern Europe held firm in the first half of 2026. The overall picture showed sustained momentum in lending to households.
Countries that had previously recorded the strongest growth rates, such as Croatia and Romania, experienced some cooling. Their pace of expansion moderated, gradually moving closer to levels seen elsewhere in the region, though absolute growth remained notable.
