Deutsche Bank: Hormuz standoff pushes Brent above $85, stoking inflation risks

Deutsche Bank strategists note that Brent crude has broken above $85 and closed near $88 as the Strait of Hormuz remains shut, with escalating US-Iran tensions adding to inflation pressures.

BRENT

Deutsche Bank strategists have highlighted that Brent crude has broken above the $85 mark, closing near $88, amid a dramatic shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway’s closure, coupled with rising US-Iran tensions, has rattled energy markets.

The price surge adds to growing inflation concerns, the bank notes, as sustained supply-side pressures from the disruption could feed through to higher consumer prices globally.
