Czechia, Hungary GDP Growth Outperforms EU Despite Q2 Miss

Czech GDP expanded 2.0% y/y in Q2, below forecasts but still above the EU average, as Hungary also posted solid though below-consensus growth.

Preliminary data showed Czech GDP rose 2.0% year-on-year in the second quarter, missing the 2.2% market consensus. Hungary's economy also grew at a pace exceeding the EU average, though its reading came in modestly below expectations.

The results highlight that Central Europe continues to outpace the broader European economy, even as both nations experienced mild downside surprises. This relative strength contrasts with sluggish growth elsewhere in the bloc.
