Crypto spot trading volume slumps to year-low $15 billion

Weekly spot volume across major crypto exchanges has fallen to $15 billion, the lowest level of 2025, down 70% from January peaks.

Spot trading activity on cryptocurrency exchanges has dwindled sharply, with the combined daily volume across 44 tracked platforms dropping to approximately $15 billion last week. That is the weakest reading since the start of the year and represents a 70% decline from January’s peak levels, according to Kaiko data.

In contrast, February saw two individual trading days with volumes exceeding $100 billion. The average daily volume trend has now fallen by half from December 2025 to $20 billion—also a year-low.

Market activity remains highly concentrated: the six largest exchanges capture more than 60% of total volume. The sharp contraction signals that crypto market liquidity is drying up.
