Crypto.com Appoints Ex-BDSwiss Compliance Chief to Lead Cyprus Unit

Stelios Moyseos, former BDSwiss chief compliance and AML officer and ex-CySEC official, will lead Crypto.com's Cyprus entity as the exchange expands its MiFID-licensed operations.

Crypto.com has appointed Stelios Moyseos as Executive Director of its Cyprus entity, adding a senior compliance and regulatory specialist to its European leadership team. Moyseos previously served as Chief Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering Officer at retail broker BDSwiss and earlier worked as an officer at the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

Moyseos joins Crypto.com after a turbulent stretch for his former employer. BDSwiss restructured its business model in 2024, and CySEC withdrew its license in 2025 due to prolonged inactivity. The broker's remaining offshore entity has since stopped accepting new client onboarding and is no longer reachable, according to the source.

Commenting on his new role in a LinkedIn announcement, Moyseos said: "I look forward to working alongside an exceptional team as we continue building a strong, compliant and innovative offering for our clients across Europe."

Multi-Asset Expansion

The appointment comes as Crypto.com works to broaden its European footprint. In 2025, the crypto exchange acquired CySEC-regulated A.N. Allnew Investments Ltd, the operator of the LegacyFX trading brand. That deal gave Crypto.com a Cyprus Investment Firm licence under the EU's MiFID regime, clearing the way for the exchange to offer traditional derivatives.

The move mirrors a wider industry trend. Global crypto exchanges, including Coinbase and Kraken, have turned to Cyprus to secure EU-wide licences by acquiring established local brokers. Alongside those acquisitions, they have also hired compliance and regulatory veterans to lead their Cyprus operations. Kraken, for example, named regulatory technology expert Andreas Roussos to head its local unit.

This push toward multi-asset trading shows how major crypto platforms are trying to diversify revenue beyond pure digital assets. With crypto facing persistent headwinds in 2026 and high-profile venues, including pioneering derivatives exchange BitMEX, shutting down, regulated traditional derivatives have become a key growth priority for the sector's largest players.
