Coins.ph Pioneers Stablecoin Payments with QRPh Integration

Coins.ph has launched QRPh stablecoin payment support, allowing users to pay with PHP, USDT, USDC, or a combination at nearly 700,000 merchants across the Philippines.
Manila, Philippines — Coins.ph, the Philippines’ largest crypto-native digital wallet, has rolled out a QRPh Stablecoin Payment feature that lets users settle transactions using Philippine Pesos (PHP), USDT, USDC, or a blend of both in a single checkout flow. The feature, available immediately, works with the country’s national QR code standard QRPh, developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
QRPh is designed as an interoperable payment system that allows customers to pay by scanning a single QR code regardless of which bank or e-wallet they use, eliminating the need for merchants to display multiple provider-specific codes. Coins.ph is the first e-wallet in the Philippines to integrate stablecoin payments with the QRPh standard, linking digital asset portfolios directly to daily commerce. The functionality is compatible with nearly 700,000 QRPh-enabled merchants, ranging from small local businesses to large retail chains.
Coins.ph processed nearly ₱30 billion in QRPh transactions in December 2025 alone, underscoring the scale of the infrastructure now available for stablecoin integration. For the initial rollout, the platform supports the two most liquid stablecoins globally: USDT, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and widely used for its price stability and transaction speed, and USDC, a regulated stablecoin favored for its transparency and security. More tokens are expected to be added in the coming months.
The feature addresses a common friction point in crypto payments—manual pre-conversion—by automating conversion at the point of sale. Users can choose from three payment modes: PHP-only, crypto-funded (using USDT or USDC converted to PHP during checkout), or a hybrid flow that combines PHP and a stablecoin when a single balance is insufficient. The system provides real-time conversion quotes for transparency, and refunds are processed in PHP regardless of the original payment method.
“We expect this new feature to revolutionize how our users make payments, whether for coffee runs or weekend shopping at large retail chains,” said Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph. He added that the initiative is part of the company’s broader effort to make crypto more usable in everyday scenarios and simplify merchant QR transactions for users holding funds across different asset types.
The launch positions Coins.ph at the forefront of national payments innovation in the Philippines, as QRPh adoption surges. The company describes itself as building the next generation of global money movement, combining stablecoin-powered settlement with local payment rails for faster, lower-cost, 24/7 financial services.
