CMC Markets Follows IG Australia Into ChatGPT as Rivals Let AI Place Trades

CMC Markets has added a ChatGPT integration, mirroring an earlier move by IG Australia, while some rival brokers go further and let AI place trades directly.

CMC Markets has added a ChatGPT integration to its offering, making the spread-betting and CFD broker the latest in the sector to build generative AI into its client-facing platform. The move follows an earlier, similar step by IG Australia, according to a daily recap of developments across forex and CFD brokers.

The same recap framed the addition as a follower's move, noting that some competing brokers have gone further and now allow artificial intelligence to place trades, rather than simply answering questions or assisting with research. CMC did not disclose terms, timelines or technical partners in the material available.

Other developments in the sector

The recap also flagged several other items across the brokerage landscape. LCG saw a change at the top through a management takeover, while iFOREX reported a loss for the first half of the year. On the regulatory side, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) introduced new rules covering trading algorithms — a development that lands as brokers lean more heavily on automated and AI-assisted execution.

Elsewhere, FISG – Interstellar Group's Global Head of Research, Amir Amidian, discussed the group's approach to technology, compliance, trader education and international expansion. Amidian outlined how the firm uses its proprietary Flux One execution technology, designed to improve execution speed, and described how AI could help traders identify and learn from mistakes they have made in the past. He also pointed to plans for further expansion across international markets.

Payments infrastructure was another theme, with a webinar examining why online merchants are shifting away from single-provider setups toward multi-PSP routing and payment orchestration, including routing decisions based on approval rates, cost and geography, plus the use of crypto, stablecoins and open banking.

Separately, the recap noted that BlackBull's planned listing has been delayed until 2027, that Equiti has opened a second physical storefront in the UAE, and that eToro is preparing to migrate clients to a new AI-centred app.
