Cloudflare Wallet Reservations Open for Agent Payments with Stablecoins

Cloudflare has opened name reservations for its new programmable wallets, allowing autonomous agents to pay for APIs, data, and tools with stablecoins. The system includes account and virtual wallets with spending controls, underpinning a payments standard co-developed with Coinbase.

Cloudflare announced the availability of name reservations for Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet system designed to enable software agents to pay for services like APIs, data, content, and MCP tools using stablecoins. The initiative provides agents with readable identifiers, helping merchants understand who is making a request.

The wallet structure includes two types: an Account Wallet owned by the user and multiple Virtual Wallets, each tied to a specific agent with configurable spending limits and an approved vendor list. This setup aims to give operators granular control over agent expenditures.

The infrastructure is built around the x402 protocol, a standard Cloudflare is advancing in collaboration with Coinbase. Once live, the wallets will form the core of Cloudflare's agent-focused payment network.
