Bybit Sues North Korea and Lazarus Group Over $1.5B Theft
Bybit has filed a lawsuit against North Korea and the Lazarus Group, seeking the return of $1.5 billion in stolen assets plus compensation.
Crypto exchange Bybit has initiated legal action against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Lazarus Group, alleging they orchestrated the theft of $1.5 billion in digital assets. The suit demands full restitution and additional damages.
A court has already granted permission to request account data from US-based platforms and to freeze assets linked to the attack. However, recovery efforts have been limited: 90.2% of the stolen coins are no longer traceable, and only about $75.5 million (5.3% of the total) has been frozen or restored.
