BTCPay Offers Up to 3 BTC Bounty for Return of Stolen Lightning Funds

BTCPay Server announces a reward of 10% of recovered funds, capped at ~$190k, for the return of coins stolen from Lightning nodes. The team has not yet disclosed the full scale of the hack.

BTCPay Server is offering a bounty for the return of funds stolen from its Lightning Network nodes. The reward is set at 10% of any recovered assets, capped at 3 BTC—approximately $190,000 at current prices.

The company said anyone with information that leads to recovery can claim the bounty, including the hacker themselves. The team has not revealed the full extent of the breach.

Separately, BTCPay will pay 0.21 BTC each to a Sparrow Wallet developer and to the Bitcoin Red Team for responsibly disclosing the underlying vulnerability.
