Bitvavo Enhances Staking Services with Figment

Netherlands-based crypto exchange Bitvavo will use Figment’s staking infrastructure to stake tokens like ETH, SOL, and NEAR for its 1.5 million users in the Benelux region.

Netherlands-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitvavo has selected Figment to provide enterprise-level staking infrastructure, allowing the platform to stake multiple tokens on behalf of its clients. The partnership covers protocols including Ethereum, Solana, and NEAR, and aims to bolster Bitvavo’s staking services with added security and performance.

Figment, which counts Galaxy Digital among its major investors, will supply dedicated validator nodes to ensure high-quality network performance and security for Bitvavo. The two teams have been collaborating for six months to roll out these staking capabilities across Europe. Bitvavo CEO and co-founder Mark Nuvelstijn said the partnership brings additional safety and expands the exchange’s offerings, noting that Figment’s market insights and staking infrastructure were key factors.

Expanding European Reach Bitvavo has been steadily broadening its European footprint. In November 2023, after registering as a crypto asset service provider with France’s Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), it launched services for French users. Previously, the exchange secured regulatory approval in Austria and expanded into Italy in 2022. It is also pursuing registrations in other major European markets.

Nuvelstijn has previously expressed confidence that Europe’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework will enable crypto companies to offer financial services and vice versa. The exchange, which serves over 1.5 million users primarily in the Benelux region, sees staking as a core part of its product evolution. Bitvavo is also diversifying its pool staking service providers to include Coinbase, Copper, and Kiln alongside Figment.

Figment EMEA president Eva Lawrence stated that the partnership will give Bitvavo users access to staking rewards on newly launched networks as they become available. The integration is expected to strengthen Bitvavo’s competitive position in the European crypto market.
