Bitstamp by Robinhood secures BVI VASP registration

Bitstamp by Robinhood has secured a Virtual Asset Service Provider registration in the British Virgin Islands, expanding its regulatory footprint in a new jurisdiction.
Bitstamp by Robinhood, the crypto exchange arm of Robinhood Markets, has received a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration from the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission.
The registration adds the BVI to the list of jurisdictions where the firm operates under established regulatory frameworks. Bitstamp by Robinhood said the approval followed a regulatory review process and builds on its experience running in regulated markets globally.
A regulated approach from the start
The company stated that regulation has been part of its business model from the outset. The VASP registration is described as another step in building crypto infrastructure designed for responsible, long-term operation.
The move underscores the firm’s focus on transparency and consistency as it expands its presence in the crypto sector. Bitstamp by Robinhood has long positioned itself as a regulated alternative in the spot crypto exchange space.
Broader regulatory push
This registration comes as crypto firms increasingly seek to secure licensing in multiple jurisdictions to meet evolving compliance standards. Bitstamp by Robinhood continues to hold licenses and registrations in several countries including the United States, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.
The company reiterated that clear regulation remains essential for building lasting crypto markets. The BVI registration supports its strategy of operating within established regulatory frameworks rather than in unregulated environments.
