Bitcoin Red Team Flags 4,962 Potential Security Issues Across 390 Projects
A volunteer cybersecurity group has identified nearly 5,000 potential vulnerabilities in Bitcoin-related projects, including 85 critical risks, following high-profile hardware wallet attacks.
A volunteer group named Bitcoin Red Team reported 4,962 potential security problems across 390 Bitcoin projects. Of these, 85 were classified as critical risk and another 635 as high severity.
Within the first 29.8 hours of the review campaign, the team was able to reproduce 21.4% of the findings, while the remaining results are still unconfirmed. The audit was initiated after attacks on Coldcard hardware wallets that resulted in losses exceeding $100 million.
The findings highlight ongoing security challenges in the Bitcoin ecosystem, but the unconfirmed status of most reports means the full scope of vulnerabilities remains unclear.
