Binance Opens the Gates for Hyperliquid’s HYPE Token

Binance opened spot trading for Hyperliquid's HYPE on 24 September across three pairs, applying its Seed Tag risk label. The token fell about 5% to $90.50 within hours of the debut.

Binance began spot trading for Hyperliquid's HYPE token on 24 September, opening three pairs — HYPE/USDT, HYPE/USDC and HYPE/TRY — while attaching its Seed Tag designation, a label warning of above-average risk that obliges traders to retake a quiz every 90 days. Within hours of the listing, HYPE dropped roughly 5% to $90.50, giving back a brief spike that followed the original announcement.

The exchange charged no BNB listing fee and allowed deposits one hour before trading started at 11:00 UTC, with withdrawals set for 25 September at 11:00 UTC, according to its listing notice. Access is not universal: the TRY pair is limited to verified Binance TR accounts, and users in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and several sanctioned jurisdictions are barred from HYPE spot trading.

Hyperliquid's scale

Hyperliquid is the largest decentralised perpetual-futures venue by volume, settling about $240 billion in 30-day perp trades through mid-September, with $6.804 billion in open interest as of the 17 September snapshot. The protocol has generated $429 million in revenue so far in 2026, including roughly $61 million across the same 30-day window, and channels trading fees into automatic HYPE buybacks and burns. About 46.4 million tokens — 4.6% of maximum supply — have been retired since launch, purchased with some $1.2 billion of protocol revenue and worth about $4.2 billion at the listing-day price of $90.50.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao had previously framed the protocol's position in a June 2026 Galaxy Brains interview, describing it as "a niche that Binance cannot compete" with and saying "Hyperliquid invention is awesome." The comments stood out because Binance's own perpetual-futures business competes directly with Hyperliquid's core product. The spot listing came roughly 22 months after HYPE first launched.

The sell-off fits a familiar exchange-listing pattern in which anticipation drives the rally and the event itself triggers profit-taking. HYPE had climbed from around $25 in early 2026 to $95.97 on 21 September before touching an all-time high near $97.96, a nearly fourfold gain helped by listing speculation. With market capitalisation near $20.5 billion at the time of the Binance launch, the session erased roughly $1 billion in paper value.

HYPE was already traded on Coinbase, Kraken and Bitget. Adding Binance gives the token access to the venue handling the largest share of global spot volume, broadening its liquidity and retail reach. Binance scheduled Trading Bots and Spot Copy Trading for HYPE within 24 hours, and how quickly the Seed Tag is removed will indicate how the exchange rates the token's risk once listing volatility settles.
