Bakkt Announces Partnership with Nexo

Bakkt said Nexo will use its US trading infrastructure and regulatory licenses to relaunch digital asset services in the US, expanding Bakkt Markets' reach.

Bakkt, Inc. (NYSE:BKKT) announced a new partnership with Nexo, a global digital asset wealth platform, to support Nexo's planned return to the US market. The deal, announced Feb. 17, 2026, is part of Bakkt Markets, the company's initiative to offer regulated trading infrastructure to financial institutions and digital asset firms.

Under the agreement, Nexo will leverage Bakkt's US trading infrastructure to provide compliant access to digital asset trading services for its clients. Bakkt Markets draws on the company's broad US money transmitter license coverage and New York BitLicense to offer scalable, regulated infrastructure for financial institutions, fintech platforms, and global crypto companies operating in the US.

The partnership adds momentum to Bakkt Markets, which targets both established players and newcomers seeking to enter the US digital asset market. Nexo recently announced its own re-entry into the US, and the Bakkt collaboration is designed to support that effort with locally licensed execution and trading capabilities.

Company backgrounds

Bakkt, founded in 2018 and headquartered in New York, builds financial infrastructure aimed at institutional participation in the digital asset economy. Its focus areas include Bitcoin, tokenization, stablecoin payments, and AI-driven finance. Nexo, also founded in 2018, says it has processed more than $371 billion globally and serves clients in over 150 jurisdictions. Its platform includes flexible and fixed-term yield products, crypto-backed loans, trading tools, liquidity solutions, and a crypto debit/credit card.

The partnership reflects continued consolidation in the US digital asset infrastructure space as international platforms seek licensed local partners to re-enter or expand in the American market.
