Austrian Regulator Issues First MiCA Fine to Bitpanda
Austria's FMA imposed a €70,000 penalty on crypto exchange Bitpanda, marking the first enforcement action under the EU's MiCA framework.
Austria's Financial Market Authority has fined crypto exchange Bitpanda €70,000 for violating MiCA rules. It is the first penalty issued by the regulator under the EU crypto-asset framework.
According to the FMA, Bitpanda failed to submit a white paper at least 20 working days before placing an asset. The company also distributed a marketing communication before the document was published.
