ATFX client trading volumes decline 29% in slow Q2 2026

ATFX posted $777B in Q2 2026 trading volume, down 29% from Q1's record $1.09T, while its active client base grew 8.22% YoY.

China-based retail FX and CFDs broker ATFX has reported total client trading volume of $777 billion for Q2 2026, a 29% drop from Q1's record $1.09 trillion. The company said this represented monthly average volumes of about $259 billion, with momentum in energy trading subsiding during the quarter.

Despite lower volumes, ATFX said its active client base rose 8.22% year-on-year, which it attributed to continued client engagement and the strength of its global operations. Chairman Joe Li said the company's priority remains helping clients navigate changing market conditions, adding that growth in client participation and healthy performance across core markets demonstrate business resilience.

Asset-class breakdown

Energy was again the leading asset class, with trading volumes climbing 787% year-on-year on elevated volatility in global energy markets. Cryptocurrency volumes rose 33.42% quarter-on-quarter and 22.88% year-on-year, according to ATFX, while indices trading increased 11.73% year-on-year. Forex volumes, the broker's core product, rose 7.63% year-on-year.

The quarter also saw ATFX continue its international expansion. It received authorization to open a representative office in Colombia and appointed industry veteran Dany Mawas as CEO of ATFX Africa. At the same time, the broker decided to close its prop trading unit, ATFunded, after several executives recruited from MyForexFunds left the company.

ATFX operates from multiple locations globally, primarily Hong Kong, Dubai and London, and is controlled by Chinese national Hiu Keung (Joe) Li, who serves as chairman.
