Arno Walter Appointed New Country Manager as Nordnet Prepares German Launch

Markus Pertlwieser is leaving Nordnet Germany to join a non-competing German financial firm. Arno Walter, former Comdirect CEO, takes over as Country Manager as Nordnet prepares for its German launch in H2 2026.

Nordnet Bank AB has announced a change in leadership for its German subsidiary. Markus Pertlwieser, who became Country Manager for Nordnet Germany in 2025, is leaving the company to take a position at a non-competing firm within the German financial sector.

Taking over the role is Arno Walter, a well-known figure in the German financial industry. Walter brings extensive experience from senior positions, including serving as CEO of Comdirect, one of Germany's leading digital platforms for banking and investment services, and holding several executive roles at Commerzbank. Since 2024, he has been acting as an advisor to Nordnet ahead of the company's planned entry into the German market.

“I would like to extend a big thank you to Markus for his important contributions during his time at Nordnet and wish him the best of luck and success in his new role. At the same time, I am very pleased to welcome Arno Walter as our new Country Manager. Having worked with Arno during his time as an advisor to Nordnet, I know that his broad experience from the German financial sector and his well-documented strong leadership make him the right person to take over from Markus during the exciting phase we are in,” said Rasmus Järborg, CEO of Nordnet.

Arno Walter expressed enthusiasm about moving into a more operational role. “It is with pride and great commitment that I take on the role of head of Nordnet’s German operations. Nordnet is the leading savings platform in the Nordic region, and participating in the launch of the company’s services in Germany is an incredibly exciting project. Nordnet has 30 years of experience in savings and investments, combined with innovation, fresh thinking, and digital leadership. It is precisely this combination that makes the role so interesting and provides us with the right conditions to achieve success in the German market,” said Walter.

Nordnet has previously communicated its plan to launch operations in Germany during the second half of 2026. The appointment of Walter signals the company’s continued commitment to that timeline and to building a strong local leadership team.
