Armenian Government Resigns After New Parliament Convenes

Armenia's government stepped down on Sunday following the first session of the newly elected parliament. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will lead a caretaker cabinet until a new government is appointed.

Armenia's cabinet resigned on Sunday, fulfilling a constitutional requirement triggered by the inaugural session of the newly elected parliament in Yerevan. The move is a formal step in the political transition following recent elections.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that the outgoing government will continue in a caretaker capacity to handle day-to-day affairs until a new administration is formed. The transition period is expected to conclude once President Armen Sarkissian accepts the resignation and a new prime minister is nominated and approved by parliament.
