Anchorage Unveils Plan to Shield Bitcoin from Quantum Attacks

Crypto bank Anchorage has introduced a post-quantum mechanism for Bitcoin, allowing signature migration without exposing old private keys. The solution could apply to about two-thirds of coins in circulation.

Anchorage, the institutional crypto custodian, is rolling out post-quantum safeguards across its infrastructure. The firm is already deploying quantum-resistant internal communications, testing new cryptographic algorithms, and leveraging hardware security modules to protect keys.

For Bitcoin specifically, Anchorage has proposed a mechanism called Post-Quantum Turnstile. It allows an address to migrate signing authority to a post-quantum key without ever exposing the original private or public key. The company estimates that the solution could be applicable to about two-thirds of the circulating Bitcoin supply.
