AMD has agreed to acquire World Labs, an AI laboratory founded by Fei-Fei Li, in a deal valued at about $8.2 billion in stock.
After the acquisition, Li will become vice president and chief scientist at AMD.
Li is a key researcher in modern artificial intelligence and is referred to as the "godmother of AI."
