Stacking a MACD zero-line cross with Aroon and moving-average filters

A long-side combination starts with a MACD or PPO cross through zero, then requires 34-over-55 moving-average structure. Aroon-up at 100 is frequent confirmation, not a required print.

  • Treat a MACD or PPO cross through the zero line as the primary event, not a MACD-line versus signal-line cross.
  • A long-side checklist requires price above both averages, the 34-period average above the 55-period average, and that zero-line cross.
  • Aroon-up often reaches 100 near the oscillator event, but a missing print does not void the setup if a resistance break is present.
  • The zero-line focus is described as producing fewer trades and longer time in a position.

Start with the zero-line hypothesis

The MACD method under discussion treats a cross through the zero line as the primary signal rather than a MACD-line versus signal-line cross. A percentage-scaled PPO can stand in for MACD under the same zero-line rule.

Focusing on that zero-line event instead of a line-versus-signal cross is described as producing fewer trades and longer time in a position.

Require dual moving-average structure

One long-side checklist requires price above both moving averages, the 34-period average above the 55-period average, and a MACD or PPO cross above zero.

Those dual moving averages are the trend-structure filter around the oscillator event: the 34-period average above the 55-period average, with price above both.

Keep Aroon confirmatory

The Aroon indicator is assigned a confirmatory role for MACD direction rather than serving as the primary trigger. Aroon-up often reaches 100 near a MACD zero-line cross, but that coincidence does not always occur.

The 100 print is treated as frequent, but not required, confirmation that upside momentum has started. When Aroon confirmation is absent, the preferred stack is a MACD zero-line cross, price moving above the averages, and a break above resistance.

A resistance break is a move through a prior price barrier used as the third confirmation when Aroon does not print 100.
