XTB achieves best quarter yet: preliminary net profit and client base hit all-time highs

XTB achieved its best-ever quarter with net profit up 172% year-on-year to EUR 126M and operating income of EUR 258M. The broker added 370,000 new clients in Q1.

Polish online broker XTB reported preliminary net profit of EUR 126 million for the first quarter of 2026, a 172% year-on-year increase and the highest quarterly figure in the company's history. Operating income reached EUR 258 million, up 86% from Q1 2025, driven by elevated market volatility and continued client growth.

Record client acquisition and assets

XTB attracted more than 370,000 new clients during the quarter, a 90% jump from a year earlier, bringing the total client base to over 2.5 million. Active clients rose 72% year-on-year to nearly 1.27 million. Client assets under custody exceeded EUR 11.6 billion at the end of March, with the largest allocations in equities (over EUR 4.1 billion) and ETFs (nearly EUR 3.6 billion).

CEO Omar Arnaout attributed the performance to the company's growth strategy and favorable market conditions. "As recently as October 2025, we stated that our client base had the potential, under favourable market conditions, to generate over PLN 500 million in net profit. This is exactly what happened at the first available opportunity," Arnaout said. He added that XTB continues to focus on accelerating new client acquisition and strengthening its brand as the investment app of first choice in Europe.

Strategy and product developments

XTB's marketing efforts, including partnerships with Paris La Défense Arena and the Basketball World Cup sponsorship, supported the client influx. The broker also expanded options trading into Spain and Germany, and enhanced its charting capabilities with TradingView integration.

During Q1, XTB advanced work on spot cryptocurrency trading, which will launch first in Cyprus in the first half of 2026, followed by Latin American and other European markets subject to regulatory approvals. The company is also evaluating a licence application in Poland. Additionally, the next version of its Investment Plans (2.0) is being tested by a select user group to improve onboarding for new investors.

XTB's client composition shifted further toward long-term wealth building, with over 10,800 PEA accounts in France and nearly 6,300 ISAs across cash and stocks-and-shares variants. The firm reported stable client acquisition costs despite higher spending, underscoring cost discipline.
