Webull Opens Managed Corporate Bond Portfolios at $2,000 as Rivals Ask for $250,000

Webull's new advisory service offers two fixed-income strategies starting at $500 and $2,000, far below competitors' $250,000+ minimums. The portfolios are powered by fixed-income fintech Moment.

Webull has introduced Managed Bond Portfolios, a robo-advisory service that buys and holds individual bonds for retail clients. Available from Monday to U.S. investors only, the product leverages technology from Moment, a New York-based fixed-income software firm.

The service offers two initial strategies. Enhanced Cash invests in U.S. Treasury securities maturing within two years, requires a $500 minimum and charges a 15-basis-point annual fee. High Income spreads assets across investment-grade and high-yield corporate debt, carries a $2,000 minimum and costs 30 basis points per year. Webull says the High Income strategy targets annualized income above 6% over time, noting that this is a goal rather than a track record.

Both offerings sharply undercut the entry requirements of traditional brokerages. Charles Schwab demands $250,000 for the Wasmer Schroeder fixed-income separately managed accounts it distributes, while Fidelity sets a $350,000 minimum on its own fixed-income SMAs. However, the fee gap is narrower: Fidelity’s comparable accounts charge 0.35% to 0.40%, and Schwab’s Treasury bond ladder strategies start at 0.15%, the same as Webull’s Enhanced Cash. Schwab’s actively managed fixed-income strategies begin at 0.55%. Webull is primarily lowering the account-size barrier rather than undercutting on fees.

Investors using the new portfolios give up control over individual security selection. Webull Advisors decides which bonds to buy, when to sell and how to reinvest — making the accounts fully discretionary. This contrasts with Webull’s corporate bond trading service launched in October 2025, where clients place their own orders at a 0.10% spread and a $10 per-trade minimum. The discretionary model also differs from rivals such as Public.com, which lets investors opt into a fixed basket of corporate bonds, and Wealthfront’s Automated Bond Ladder, which handles Treasury bills and notes but not corporate bonds.

Moment, co-founded by former Citadel Securities quantitative traders, provides the underlying technology for portfolio construction and operations. The startup raised $78 million in a Series C round led by Index Ventures in May, bringing its total funding to $134 million. Moment had previously worked with Webull and Apex Fintech Solutions in 2024 to enable fractional bond orders as low as $100.

Webull previewed the managed bond portfolios at a mid-year investor event on June 30 alongside an AI portfolio tool and expanded private-market access. The company has been busy this year, adding mutual funds inside IRA accounts in June and event contracts to its paper trading environment last week. Sara Schwartz, CEO of Webull Advisors, said the new service offers “bond portfolio management that’s historically been reserved for high-net-worth clients.”
