Webull Expands Paper Trading With Multi-Asset Simulation and OpenAPI Access

Webull is broadening its paperTrade simulation platform to include crypto, futures, bonds and event contracts, plus new OpenAPI access for developers.

Webull (NASDAQ: BULL) unveiled a major upgrade to its paperTrade simulation platform on Tuesday, extending the tool beyond stocks and options to cover crypto, futures, bonds and event contracts. The company says the expansion is one of the largest changes to the feature since it launched, with users having already placed more than 204 million simulated orders.

The revamped experience is designed to mirror Webull's live trading platform more closely, giving users access to similar workflows and advanced functionality without putting real capital at risk. Key improvements include broader asset coverage across six categories, more sophisticated options order capabilities, and a new pricing engine aimed at better reflecting live market conditions and improving simulated execution.

Webull also added a dedicated interface that lets users switch between live and paper trading while keeping their personalized layouts intact. In addition, the firm is opening up OpenAPI access for paperTrade, enabling developers and AI-driven applications to connect programmatically and test trading workflows in a simulated environment.

“Paper trading has long been one of the most popular features on Webull because it gives investors a place to learn by doing,” said Anthony Denier, Group President and U.S. CEO of Webull. “We’ve completely reimagined the experience to bring together everything our live platform offers into one realistic simulation.”

Jack Keating, CEO of Webull Tech US and Head of Institutional, said extending OpenAPI access to paperTrade provides developers and advanced traders with a safer space to build and refine strategies before entering live markets.

Rollout timeline

The updated paper trading features are expected to begin rolling out to users later this month.
