Thndr Launches Digital Gold Investment Product

Egyptian investment platform Thndr has launched Thndr Gold, a digital product enabling users to invest in 24-karat gold through its mobile app with a minimum of 0.001 gram, equivalent to less than EGP 7 at current prices. The announcement was made on June 26, 2026.

Thndr Gold is among the first major products introduced by Thndr Asset Management following the company's recent expansion. The product addresses common challenges in traditional gold purchases, such as limited price transparency, storage and security concerns, and the requirement to buy at least one full gram.

Users can buy and sell gold multiple times per week through the Thndr app without visiting a physical branch. Prices are updated throughout the day in line with official gold rates, providing real-time visibility of holdings and market value.

The fee structure is a 1% charge on purchases and a further 1% on sales, with no additional hidden fees. The company claims this makes it one of the lowest-cost gold investment options in the Egyptian market.

Gold is stored securely by Egypt Cash, a company affiliated with the Central Bank of Egypt. The product is supervised by a specialist Sharia committee to ensure compliance with Islamic finance principles.

Ahmed Hammouda, co-founder and CEO of Thndr, said the launch reflects the company's commitment to providing accessible investment services at the lowest possible cost. "Our goal is to provide the best investment experience at the lowest possible cost. Thndr Gold reflects that commitment, and it is the same standard we will continue to apply as we introduce new asset classes to the platform," Hammouda said.

The launch strengthens Thndr's strategy of becoming the primary investment account for Egyptians by expanding beyond traditional securities into a broader range of digitally accessible asset classes.
