The Best Live Funded Program Just Got Better With the Topstep Octagon

Prop trading firm Topstep has launched the Topstep Octagon, a new monthly trading competition for traders with Live Funded Accounts. The competition awards $250,000 in performance bonuses each month, with $100,000 going to first place and payouts for the top 100 traders.

The competition runs on a monthly cycle with automatic enrollment for all active Live Funded Accounts—no sign-up required. Rankings are based solely on each account's profit and loss (PnL) for the month, calculated from a virtual zero starting point regardless of account balance. The leaderboard updates in real time, and bonuses are paid the following month directly into the trader's account balance.

Topstep says the Octagon is designed to reward disciplined, consistent trading rather than high-risk bets. Monthly PnL is reset, giving traders a fresh start each month. The company estimates that top performers could receive up to $1.2 million annually in bonuses if they win every month, though prizes are not guaranteed and are subject to terms and conditions.

Live Funded Account holders also gain access to up to $150,000 in starting capital, dynamic daily loss limits that scale with account growth, and a path to full account access after 30 winning days with a minimum $150 profit per day.

Traders who have not yet earned a Live Funded Account can begin the path by starting a Trading Combine evaluation for as low as $49. The Trading Combine is a rules-based simulated trading environment that, once passed, leads to an Express Funded Account and eventually a live capital-backed account.

Topstep, which has been operating for over 15 years and has paid out more than $1.5 billion to traders globally, positions the Octagon as a way to bring competitive pit-floor energy to the funded trader experience.
