Scalable Capital Rolls Out AI Agent Integration for Portfolio Analysis and Trading

Munich neobroker Scalable Capital now lets its roughly one million clients connect accounts to AI platforms for portfolio analysis and trade placement, a rollout its co-CEO calls a "first step".

Munich-based neobroker Scalable Capital has started allowing its approximately one million clients to link their brokerage accounts to external AI platforms, enabling automated portfolio analysis and trade placement. The Tencent-backed company, which is active mainly in Germany and Austria, offers stock and crypto brokerage, automated wealth management and high-yield savings accounts.

Scalable Capital founder and Co-CEO Erik Podzuweit told Reuters the launch is a "first step", acknowledging that retail investors may be reluctant at the outset to hand investment decisions to automated agents. His comments signal that the neobroker expects adoption to build gradually rather than immediately.

Early demand signals

Interest in agent-driven trading has been building among more technically minded users. Earlier this year an independent developer built an unofficial, read-only MCP server on top of Scalable Capital's CLI tool so they could securely ask Claude questions about their own portfolio. Platform provider MetaQuotes, meanwhile, has recorded 1 trillion tokens since releasing its MCP integration in July, with usage concentrated in a cluster of its global user base. Robinhood reported a comparable pattern: about 50,000 of its roughly 14 million active users tried its own version of the feature in the first month.

Scalable Capital said the integration is supported by "significant safeguards" and "a number of security measures", an approach that mirrors the rest of the retail brokerage industry. Early AI deployments have largely stayed within controlled boundaries, with brokers adopting measures that include separate trading accounts, spending limits and manual approval of trades.

Because regulatory guidance for agentic trading remains limited, the practical guardrails have been set by the risk and engineering teams at brokers, trading platforms and now neobrokers. That leaves the pace and scope of further rollouts largely in the hands of the firms themselves until supervisors provide clearer rules.
