Rothera Adds $17 Million as Robinhood Event Revenue Reaches $156 Million

Robinhood's event-contract revenue jumped more than tenfold year over year to $156 million in Q2 2026, overtaking equities and crypto. Rothera contributed $17 million of the total.

Robinhood posted a sharp jump in event-contract revenue in the second quarter of 2026, with the category generating $156 million — more than ten times the year-earlier level and the fastest growth of any disclosed transaction business. The figures were part of quarterly results released Thursday, covering the three months ended June 30. Total net revenue rose 32% year over year to $1.31 billion, while transaction-based revenue climbed 44% to $776 million, with event contracts cited as a major driver.

Event contracts ranked second among Robinhood's main disclosed trading categories, behind options, which brought in $342 million after growing 29%. Equities revenue reached $129 million, up 95%, and cryptocurrency revenue fell 38% to $100 million. That left event contracts $56 million ahead of crypto for the quarter. Trading activity through the company's Prediction Markets Hub hit a quarterly record of 13.6 billion contracts, more than ten times the volume recorded a year earlier. The product was launched in March 2025.

Rothera, the CFTC-licensed exchange and clearing house that began operating in June through Robinhood's joint venture with Susquehanna International Group, accounted for $17 million of the event-contract total. Robinhood said more than 3.5 billion contracts have been traded on Rothera to date. That number is not directly comparable with the Prediction Markets Hub figure because of different counting methods: the hub counts each contract bought or sold, while Rothera counts a matched pair of Yes and No contracts as a single traded contract.

Rothera is the rebranded MIAXdx venue set up by the joint venture. Routing high-volume contracts through it adds exchange and clearing infrastructure to Robinhood's customer-facing platform, which had previously relied on third-party venues. The company did not disclose profitability by product or give an outlook for how its transaction revenue mix might develop. The latest numbers indicate event contracts have become a material part of Robinhood's trading business even though options remain the largest category.
