Robinhood UK gets crypto license nod

Robinhood UK's FCA registration now covers cryptoasset dealing, clearing the way for a retail crypto offering in Britain. The firm has not yet announced a launch date.
Robinhood UK has secured regulatory clearance to offer crypto trading services to British clients, according to an update to its Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration dated July 31, 2026. The amended permission covers arranging or making arrangements, including receiving and transmitting orders, with a view to the execution of transactions in cryptoassets and money.
The US neobroker, whose parent company Robinhood Markets Inc. trades on Nasdaq under the ticker HOOD, has also appeared on the FCA's list of registered and formerly registered cryptoasset firms as its newest entrant. No formal announcement about a customer-facing launch has been made yet.
The approval marks a step forward in Robinhood's broader international expansion plans for the second half of 2026. Earlier in July, the company signalled it was preparing a fairly aggressive push overseas, with specific projects including UK crypto, EU perpetual futures, and a launch in Canada.
Robinhood has already built a meaningful presence in the UK market over the past year, having introduced a stocks and shares ISA as well as futures trading. The addition of crypto would round out its UK offering, although the timing is notable given that crypto is becoming a smaller part of Robinhood's overall business mix.
The company, once widely viewed as a crypto-focused broker with its share price closely tied to Bitcoin and Ethereum, posted record results for the second quarter of 2026 even as crypto-related revenues declined significantly. In Q2, revenue from its newest hot product, prediction markets, far exceeded crypto revenue at $156 million versus $100 million, respectively.
The FCA green light does not mean trading services are live immediately, but it removes a key regulatory hurdle for Robinhood's UK crypto ambitions. The company has not disclosed a specific launch timeline for British retail clients.
