Robinhood Opens 24/7 Stock Token Trading on Its New Layer 2 Chain

Robinhood has launched its own Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, Robinhood Chain, and introduced 24/7 Stock Tokens on the network, allowing eligible users in over 120 countries to trade tokenized debt securities with DeFi integration.

Robinhood has launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum’s technology stack. The move deepens the firm’s push into tokenized assets, decentralized finance, and international crypto products, with day-one partners including Uniswap, Pleiades, Alchemy, BitGo, and Chainlink.

The chain is described as permissionless, AI-native, and built for real-world assets. Uniswap is deploying a dedicated automated market maker on the network to serve as a primary public liquidity protocol, while Pleiades is deploying a proprietary AMM as a primary prop trading venue. Robinhood said the chain will also support DeFi primitives such as lending and borrowing from launch.

Concurrently, Robinhood introduced Stock Tokens—tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited—that provide economic exposure to underlying stocks but no legal or beneficial ownership rights. Eligible users in more than 120 countries can trade them 24/7 via Robinhood Wallet, through decentralized exchanges including Uniswap, Rialto, Lighter, 1inch, and Arcus. The product is not available in the U.S. or to U.S. persons, and is also restricted in Canada, the UK, Switzerland, the UAE, and sanctioned markets.

The new Stock Tokens replace the earlier “Classic Stock Tokens,” launched in June 2025 for EU and EEA users on Arbitrum One, which offered similar exposure within the Robinhood app. The new iteration ties directly to Robinhood’s own L2 chain and DeFi roadmap, allowing tokenized assets to move across decentralized exchanges, lending markets, and collateral systems.

Robinhood also revamped its wallet to integrate perpetual futures via Lighter, an Ethereum-based DEX. Lighter committed $11 million in native LIT tokens to the Robinhood community, with eligible users earning points on perpetual trades—2x points through Robinhood Wallet and 1x through Lighter’s web app. Lighter raised $68 million at a $1.5 billion valuation last November, with Robinhood Ventures as a backer.

The broader rollout includes widening perpetual futures in Europe, an official launch in Canada, a capital markets services licence in Singapore, and upcoming Agentic Accounts for U.S. users. Robinhood is building infrastructure to turn crypto from a cyclical revenue line into an international distribution business for tokenized assets, though the regulatory status of such instruments remains uncertain across many jurisdictions.
