Plus500 says it trades in line with 2026 expectations as IG warns on revenue

Plus500 said it is trading in line with market expectations for 2026, while IG Group reported a roughly 14% drop in quarterly revenue and trimmed its full-year growth outlook.

Plus500 said it continues to trade in line with current market expectations for its 2026 financial year, according to a Regulatory News Service announcement issued at 10:02am. The statement carried no revenue, earnings, customer or other numeric guidance, and made no reference to any other broker.

IG cuts revenue outlook

The assurance arrived the same morning that IG Group Holdings published its third-quarter trading update at 7am. The London-listed contracts-for-difference provider reported total revenue of about £240m, compared with £280.1m a year earlier — a decline of roughly 14% — and said it now expects 2026 revenue growth in the mid-single-digit percentage range.

IG attributed the shortfall to over-the-counter revenue retention, the portion of client trading results it keeps after hedging. That measure fell to around 70%, down from an average of about 80% since the group introduced market-making optimisation measures in the second half of 2025. Customer metrics held up: first trades rose by more than 25%, and active customers grew by roughly 17%.

Growth in first trades and active customers remained strong in the quarter. Lower Q3 revenue reflected reduced OTC revenue retention in less supportive market conditions, and I remain confident in meeting our medium-term guidance. Breon Corcoran, Chief Executive Officer, IG

IG shares were down 22.0% at 997.5p by 12.19pm, from 1,279p at the previous close. Plus500 stock stood at 3,294p shortly before, down 3.57% from 3,416p on a delayed quote. The two moves occurred on the same morning, and no link between them has been established.

Plus500, an Israel-headquartered CFD broker and FTSE 250 constituent listed in London since 24 July 2013, also said it maintains a strong cash position, as communicated on 10 August. It pointed to a risk management framework that has operated through a range of market cycles. Its full third-quarter update is due later in October, as planned, while IG will provide further third-quarter detail alongside a strategy update on 22 October.
