Nexo Argentina Expands with the Launch of the Nexo Card

Nexo has launched its dual-mode crypto debit-and-credit card in Argentina and appointed Andres Ondarra as General Manager, expanding its footprint in a key Latin American market.

Nexo, the digital assets wealth platform, has introduced its Nexo Card in Argentina and named Andres Ondarra as General Manager of Nexo Argentina, effective August 1. The launch positions Buenos Aires as a regional hub for the company's Latin American operations.

The Nexo Card allows users to either spend digital assets directly in debit mode or borrow against them as collateral in credit mode, switching between the two within a single interface. New clients receive 10% cashback on their first purchase and up to USD 450 in total rewards over the first three months, plus up to 13% annual interest on idle in-app balances paid daily. The card also offers fee-free ATM withdrawals up to USD 1,000 per month and fee-free foreign currency spending up to USD 2,000 per month, along with subscription rebates and airport lounge access.

Ondarra brings over 25 years of experience in traditional finance, fintech, and crypto across Latin America, including a background in Wall Street investment banking. He takes over from Federico Ogue, who led Nexo's growth in Argentina and is moving on to a new entrepreneurial venture. Ogue commented that the country has one of the most sophisticated crypto and fintech ecosystems in the region and expressed confidence in Ondarra's leadership.

Argentina processed approximately USD 93.9 billion in digital-asset transactions over three years, ranking second in Latin America after Brazil. With many clients already holding crypto, the card aims to provide everyday utility by enabling spending, borrowing, and earning without selling assets. Nexo is also investing in local infrastructure, sport partnerships such as with the AFA, and building a local team to support clients across Latin America.

The Nexo Card has received recognition from the Digital Banker Awards, FinTech Breakthrough Awards, and PAY360 Awards. Eligible clients in Argentina can apply via the Nexo app and website.
