Interactive Brokers Launches Access to Korean Equities

Interactive Brokers now allows clients worldwide to trade over 2,700 securities on the Korea Exchange, becoming the first major US-based broker to offer seamless access to Korea's $4 trillion equity market.

Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) announced on May 7, 2026, that it has launched access to equities listed on the Korea Exchange (KRX), marking the first time a major US-based broker has offered direct, seamless trading in South Korea’s $4 trillion equity market.

South Korea’s stock market ranks among the top ten globally by capitalization, featuring globally recognized companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Hyundai Motor. The KRX is one of Asia’s most liquid markets, attracting investors seeking exposure to the region’s technology and industrial innovation.

Eligible clients worldwide can now trade Korean equities alongside the broker’s existing coverage of over 170 global markets — spanning stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds — from a single unified platform. The service includes same-day account enablement, real-time execution, and institutional-grade pricing. More than 2,700 listed securities are available, with multi-currency support and FX conversion commissions as low as 0.20 basis points (0.0020% of trade value). Integrated portfolio margining and API access for algorithmic strategies are also included.

“Korea is one of Asia’s most dynamic equity markets, and access to the KRX enables our clients to more comprehensively manage their Asian exposure,” said David Friedland, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Interactive Brokers. He added that the launch is a natural extension of the broker’s mission to expand market access and allow clients to trade Korean equities with the same ease and efficiency as other markets on the platform.

Existing Interactive Brokers clients can begin trading immediately by enabling KRX market data and trading permissions in the Client Portal. New clients can open accounts online, with most approvals completed within one business day. The service is not available to residents of Korea, clients of Interactive Brokers Securities Japan Inc., or clients of Interactive Brokers India Pvt. Ltd.
