IG Prime Partners with Investec in South Africa

IG Prime has partnered with Investec Prime Services to white-label its multi-asset trading and risk platform in South Africa, giving the broker a route back into a market it exited in 2025.

IG Prime, the institutional arm of London-listed IG Group, has appointed Investec Prime Services as a white-label partner in South Africa, the company said on Friday. Under the arrangement, Investec Prime Services — a business unit of Investec Bank Limited — will market IG's trading and risk technology to institutional clients under its own brand.

In a white-label model, one firm builds the platform and another sells it under its own name. Clients of Investec Prime Services will get access to IG's multi-asset global platform, which covers derivatives across equities, indices, foreign exchange, commodities and fixed income. IG puts the total at roughly 19,000 instruments worldwide, including 12,000 equities.

The offering is fully integrated with IG's low-latency execution infrastructure for fast order routing, and provides 24/5 access to selected equity markets alongside weekend index and foreign exchange markets. Trading, analytics and risk management are branded front-to-back and delivered through desktop, mobile and proprietary execution systems.

A route back into South Africa

The agreement gives IG a way to serve South African clients after it withdrew from the country's commercial market. IG's full-year results for 2025, published on 19 March 2026, stated that it exited commercial operations in South Africa during 2025 to focus on larger, faster-growing markets. The group closed its rand-denominated retail accounts in mid-2025, saying on 27 May 2025 that new positions would stop and that existing clients had until 28 July 2025 to close them.

Investec Prime Services provides execution, custody, clearing and securities lending to hedge funds, corporates and other institutions. Prime services typically bundle execution, custody and financing that hedge funds purchase from banks.

Babita Ittoo Devillers, Managing Director of IG Prime, said the go-live of the white-label offering was a pivotal step for the business, adding that IG's infrastructure was built both to serve its own institutional clients and to power the ambitions of leading financial brands globally. She said strong interest from prospective partners gave the firm confidence in the scale of the opportunity ahead.

IG did not disclose financial terms, client numbers, a go-live date or whether the arrangement is exclusive. The deal packages IG's trading, execution and risk stack as a product that banks can rebrand, placing the wholesale arm of a listed broker in competition with technology vendors and other white-label providers serving institutions.
