Hyperion DeFi commits 500,000 HYPE to Hyperliquid perpetual listings

Nasdaq-listed Hyperion DeFi will deploy 500,000 HYPE tokens under Hyperliquid's HIP-3 framework, gaining an equity stake in Skew Technologies and a share of listing-service revenue.

Hyperion DeFi, a Nasdaq-listed company, has committed 500,000 HYPE tokens to support institutional perpetual futures listings on Hyperliquid through a new partnership with Skew Technologies, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The agreement sees Hyperion DeFi deploy the tokens under Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 permissionless listings framework. In return, the company receives an equity stake in Skew Technologies, a provider of listing services, and a share of the revenue generated from those services.

The partnership aims to help institutional clients launch custom perpetual futures markets on Hyperliquid, a layer-1 blockchain designed for perpetual futures trading. Rather than operating the markets directly, Skew Technologies will handle the listing service, while Hyperion supplies the HYPE tokens required to support the permissionless listings.

Hyperion DeFi CEO Hyunsu Jung said the company continues to receive requests from teams worldwide looking to launch and distribute new markets using Hyperliquid’s infrastructure, and that the HIP-3 framework opens opportunities for evaluating those requests.

The arrangement deepens Hyperion’s exposure to the Hyperliquid ecosystem beyond simply holding the HYPE token. Under Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework, developers can create custom perpetual markets by posting HYPE as bonded capital, giving the token a utility beyond staking.

Recent HIP-3 deployments have extended beyond crypto-native assets. Last week, Hyperliquid introduced a synthetic perpetual market tied to Chinese memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies ahead of its Shanghai listing. That move demonstrated how the framework can support custom derivatives linked to real-world and pre-IPO assets without giving traders ownership of the underlying securities.

Institutional interest in Hyperliquid has continued to grow across multiple fronts. Earlier this month, Bitwise added HYPE to its Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF (BITW) following an index rebalancing. Meanwhile, Circle and Coinbase deepened USDC integration on Hyperliquid, making USDC the platform’s preferred stablecoin. However, JPMorgan noted this week that the revised revenue-sharing structure could reduce long-term reserve income retained by Circle and Coinbase even as USDC adoption grows.
