Gemini Launches Commission-Free Stock Trading In Next Step Toward Financial Super App

Gemini has introduced zero-commission stock trading for U.S. customers, partnering with Nasdaq for market data and Apex for clearing. The move is part of its strategy to build a financial super app.
Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has launched commission-free stock trading for customers in the United States, marking a significant expansion beyond digital assets. The service, announced today, allows eligible U.S. users to trade thousands of stocks listed on U.S. exchanges directly from the Gemini app.
Nasdaq will provide real-time market data for the new offering, while Apex Clearing Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apex Fintech Solutions Inc., will serve as custodian and clearing broker. The launch follows Gemini's receipt of a FINRA broker-dealer approval in 2022 and a subsequent update to register as an introducing broker, enabling the company to route customer orders to Apex for execution and clearance.
This stock trading launch is the latest step in Gemini's push to become an all-in-one financial super app. Earlier this year, the company secured a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license from the CFTC, adding to its previously obtained Designated Contract Market (DCM) license. Together with the new stock trading capability, Gemini aims to offer a unified platform for crypto spot trading, prediction markets, derivatives, and now traditional equities. The app also supports Gemini's credit card and rewards program.
To incentivize new users, Gemini is running a promotion: customers who buy $100 in stocks receive $10 in rewards, $1,000 yields $75, and $10,000 yields $200. The rewards are redeemable by choosing one of the largest stocks by market cap from the S&P 500. The offer expires July 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EDT, with rewards claimable within 72 hours after the promo period ends.
The stock trading service is not available in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Texas, Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., or Guam, and is subject to regulatory approval in other jurisdictions.
