From eToro to Five Trading Platforms: X Scales Cashtags into a Distribution Channel

BlackBull's listing has slipped to 2027 and Equiti has added a second UAE location, headlining a run of broker and fintech developments involving eToro, Capital.com, Devexperts and Trade Republic.

BlackBull's planned initial public offering has been pushed back, with the brokerage's listing now not expected before 2027. The delay removes one of the more closely watched flotations from the near-term broker pipeline.

In the Middle East, Equiti has opened its second physical storefront in the United Arab Emirates, building out a face-to-face presence alongside its online trading business. The move continues a trend of brokers investing in local branches to support client acquisition and servicing in the region.

Platform and Regulatory Moves

eToro is preparing to move its clients onto a new application built around artificial intelligence, a transition that would shift its user base onto a reworked interface and toolset. The Israel-based broker, together with Alpaca, also secured relief from the US Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the roundup.

Capital.com appears to be targeting the UK crypto market, signalling an expansion into digital assets in a jurisdiction with a developing regulatory framework. Devexperts, meanwhile, has won approval in Indonesia, opening the door to the software and trading technology provider's services in that market.

Elsewhere, Tickmill's UK trading revenue declined, adding to a mixed picture for retail brokerage performance in Britain. Trade Republic gave some of its Portuguese clients only two days to switch accounts, a tight migration window that drew attention to operational handling of client transitions.

On the institutional side, the European Central Bank launched Pontes, while Revolut set out the thinking behind its low-lending banking model, which relies less on credit issuance than a conventional lender.

Looking further out, financial contracts could account for close to half of prediction-market volume by 2035, a projection that points to growing overlap between event-based markets and more traditional derivatives.

Separately, payments provider Paytiko used a Finance Magnates webinar to argue that merchants scaling across multiple markets should adopt multi-PSP routing and payment orchestration, citing the operational risk of depending on a single payment service provider.
