Former Revolut Executive Becomes Apex's Second Product Chief in 20 Months

Apex Group appointed Nick Tomadakis as chief product officer, its second hire for the role in 20 months, as the fund administrator works toward a $100 billion tokenization target by June 2027.

Apex Group has appointed Nick Tomadakis as chief product officer, the fund administrator's second hire for the same role in 20 months. Tomadakis will oversee global product strategy and the development of technology-based services, reporting directly to founder and Chief Executive Officer Peter Hughes.

The announcement did not address the status of Zion Hilelly, who was named to the position effective January 1, 2025, to lead a product-team overhaul focused on product development, accountability and profit-and-loss responsibility. Hilelly joined Apex after more than two decades at BlackRock, where he worked on post-trade products for the Aladdin platform, and a later position at S&P Global. Apex materials published during 2025 still identified him as chief product officer, and his public LinkedIn profile continued to list him at the firm when checked. Tomadakis's profile, meanwhile, still identified him with DCM. Apex did not respond to a request for clarification at the time of publication, and the release did not describe the position as newly created or announce a broader division of duties.

Hughes said the appointment should help Apex "accelerate product development and deliver new solutions to clients more quickly." The group says it services more than $3.5 trillion in assets and employs over 13,000 people. It did not specify Tomadakis's first projects, budget or product delivery dates.

Tokenization Deadline

Tomadakis joins from DCM Systems, a London software company building infrastructure for tokenized deposits and blockchain-based payments, where he served as chief product and growth officer and announced that appointment roughly a year ago. His earlier employers include Rakuten Viber, Revolut, Barclays and Visa Europe, and at Viber he worked on the Viber Pay e-wallet as it expanded across several European markets.

His mandate covers the run-up to Apex's target of $100 billion in tokenized assets by June 2027. Apex said in March that it would use the T-REX Ledger as its default infrastructure for distributing tokenized funds across several blockchain networks. The target has not been independently verified, and the company has not published interim progress figures. Apex acquired a majority stake in Luxembourg-based Tokeny in May 2025 with a path to full ownership over three years; Tokeny developed the ERC-3643 standard for permissioned tokenized assets. Earlier digital-asset work included a 2023 partnership with Deutsche Boerse-owned Crypto Finance on infrastructure for institutional crypto investment products, while a 2020 agreement with BITE Investments targeted online access to alternative-asset portfolios for investors in Asia.
