flatexDEGIRO Starts 2026 with a Record Quarter

flatexDEGIRO reported Q1 2026 revenue of €174 million (+19% YoY) and net income of €54 million (+28%), marking its first quarterly profit above €50 million. Commission and interest income both rose, driving the record performance.

European online broker flatexDEGIRO announced a record first quarter for 2026, with preliminary unaudited figures showing revenue of €174 million and net income of €54 million — the first time the company has surpassed €50 million in quarterly profit.

Revenue for the January–March period rose 19% year-on-year from €146 million, while net income grew 28% from €42 million in Q1 2025. The result was driven by higher commission and interest income, which offset a sharp increase in marketing spend.

Commission income increased 18% to €116 million, supported by an 17% rise in settled transactions to 22.7 million and a slight increase in average commission per transaction to €5.09. Interest income climbed 14% to €49.3 million, buoyed by average customer cash balances that were 41% above the prior-year quarter and higher margin loan utilisation, despite a lower interest rate environment.

CEO Oliver Behrens said the record profit indicated that the company’s strategic priorities are delivering results. “We are benefiting from increased trading activity among our existing customers, who continue to place their trust in us and invest more capital,” he noted, adding that expanded offerings in crypto trading and stock savings plans are helping build a comprehensive wealth-building platform.

Operating expenses rose 13% to €63 million, slower than revenue growth, as marketing spend jumped 76% to €21 million while personnel costs fell 10% to €29 million. CFO Dr Benon Janos highlighted the 31% net income margin as evidence of the business model’s scalability. “We are not only growing rapidly — we are growing profitably and at scale,” he said.

Customer accounts reached 3.58 million at quarter-end, up 3% from year-end 2025 and 12% over the prior year. Net cash inflows totaled €3.1 billion, while assets under custody stood at €94.5 billion. Crypto trading volume hit nearly €500 million, up from under €100 million in Q1 2025, with around 50,000 customers executing over 230,000 crypto transactions. flatex also launched stock savings plans in Germany and Austria, allowing regular investment in 1,000 stocks from €25 monthly.

For full-year 2026, flatexDEGIRO confirmed guidance of 5–10% revenue growth to €588–616 million and 5–15% net income growth to €168–184 million. The medium-term target for 2027 remains revenue of around €650 million and net income of about €200 million.
