Five Things to Know About IG's New All-in-One App
IG Group's rebranded IG app, the former IG Invest listing, will fold in spread betting and CFD accounts in the coming weeks as the broker merges investing, crypto and leveraged trading in one place.
IG Group's new all-in-one mobile app will absorb its main trading application within the coming weeks, the London-based broker said, as it moves towards a single destination for investing, crypto and leveraged trading. The app, now branded simply IG, currently holds investing and crypto accounts; spread betting and CFD trading continue to run in the separate trading app until the two merge.
The new listing is the former IG Invest app, which now appears as "IG: Stock Investing & Crypto," while the older "IG: Trading. Investing. Crypto" app will converge into it — meaning the smaller app is absorbing the larger one. On Apple's UK App Store, the trading app carried roughly 34,000 ratings against about 360 for the newer app. Andy Ensum, IG's head of product, wrote on September 8 that the team had been "rebuilding the entire front-end" to deliver a unified experience.
A summer target still rolling out
IG's July presentation described the unified proposition as launching over the summer, initially in the UK, with roll-out to new customers starting in June and a full transition slated for the following month. On Monday, the company said it is managing a phased transition that will continue over the next few weeks, without giving a migration figure. Chief Executive Breon Corcoran, speaking to analysts in July on the day IG reported first-half results and agreed to buy US prediction markets operator Underdog for about $1.3 billion, called the unified proposition "the biggest unlock this year."
The strategy rests on customers adopting more than one product. IG reported a 67% year-on-year rise in the share of new UK and Ireland customers who traded a second product within three months of their first trade. ISA, general investment, Junior ISA and crypto accounts already sit in the app's single portfolio view, with spread betting and CFD accounts to be added in the coming weeks. Combining Junior ISAs with leveraged products raises design questions the Financial Conduct Authority asks firms to address under its Consumer Duty rules; an FCA experiment with more than 9,000 people found push notifications raised the number of trades by 11%.
IG hopes to add its self-invested personal pension and Smart Portfolios to the app by the end of the year, with an updated web experience due later in 2026. The new app has no demo account yet — its Mode Selector and unified portfolio view require a live client profile — though IG said demo accounts will arrive "in the near future."
Rivals are consolidating as well: CMC Markets set out a three-phase UK plan in November 2025, Plus500's David Zruia has targeted a one-stop shop app for next year, and StoneX retired the City Index brand in the UK on September 12. IG's consumer division, which will run the app, also takes in Freetrade and Australian crypto exchange Independent Reserve, and is being formed from three regional units in a restructure expected to cost hundreds of jobs from a workforce of about 2,300 at the end of June.
